#1. Holiday Lights on the Water Taxi
When: November 30 through December 23
Check out all of the beautiful Christmas lights from aboard the Water Taxi! The pickup point is at the Stranahan House/ Riverside Hotel, which is the first stop on the Water Taxi Map. All of the waterfront mansions in Fort Lauderdale are dressed up in glorious lights and there’s no better way to take in the sights than onboard a festively decorated Double Decker Water Taxi. Enjoy live holiday music and a cash bar with specialty cocktails that’ll keep the fun flowing. Reservations are required so book early.
#2. Fall Floral Workshop
When: November 17
Want to make beautiful things out of fall flowers? The Fall Floral Workshop gives you the opportunity to do just that. You’ll use lovely fall blooms to craft your own floral wreath that you can enjoy all season long.
#3. Oakland Park Holiday Village
When: December 6 & 7
2019 will be the fourth annual Oakland Park Holiday Village – a family-friendly 2-day event held at Jaco Pastorius Park. Here you’ll find a snow mountain, the Holiday Village Carousel, children’s craft activities, and an ice-skating rink. There’s also a Shoppers’ Mart that offers the perfect place to stock up on holiday gifts for everyone on your list from a variety of local artists, crafters and culinary experts.
In addition, the annual Christmas Tree decorating competition is held on display and there’s a chance for attendees to vote for their favorite tree.
While eating, drinking and shopping, you can enjoy live music and entertainment, including popular local bands along with community acts. Of course, Santa will be there as well to take pictures with kids and adults.
You can picnic in the park at the food court area and don’t forget to grab a beverage at the Holiday Cheer bar.
#4. Fort Lauderdale Holiday Extravaganza
When: December 7
This is yet another ideal spot to get some holiday shopping done. There are always unique vendors with a splendor of crafts and goods offered for sale. Even better, a portion of sales are donated to the purchase of gloves and hats for those in need – a win-win!
#5. Winterfest Boat Parade
When: December 14
The Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is considered the “Greatest Show on H20” – and it’s a traditional way we kick off the South Florida Holiday Season. Locals and visitors from around the world all come together to enjoy this unique parade that includes over 12 miles of beautifully decorated boats.
There are several different viewing places. The parade starts at the New River and then heads East to the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, reaching all the way to the North to Lake Barbara in Pompana Beach. The best spot to see the parade is from the Grandstand Area (just north of Sunrise Boulevard). It starts at 7pm but we recommend getting there early to score a good spot.
#6. Nacc, Florida’s Holiday Party
When: December 7
This black-tie party is held at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale. It includes live music, a silent auction and a photo booth.
#7. Holiday Lighting Ceremony
When: December 5
Get in the festive spirit by joining the City of Wilton Manors as we light the holiday Menorah, Kinara and the Wilton Manors Christmas Tree. The lighting celebration includes live musical performances, yummy food, vendors and plenty of holiday festivities.
#8. Santa By the Sea
When: December 11
Santa takes to the Sea on December 11th starting at 5:30 pm. Santa launches at Colohatchee Park Boat Ramp and then sets sail around the Island City with his elves and reindeer in tow! You can stop at any of the parks along his route to catch a glimpse of the fun tradition.
